IN THE SEASONS OF TIME PART TWO-WINNING BY ALL MEANS IS NOT OF GOD

Remember that Jesus said, “follow me and I will make you fishers of men.” He is the maker, making yourself the head by all means is just a temporary breakthrough rooted on sinking sands.

Avoid it! Stop it! Stop envying others! do your best, let your hands be clean and leave the rest to God. Arnold Schwarzenegger screamed “strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.”

Wisdom is that extra effort

The secret of living in contentment

Though David was in the deep bush, did he win at last? Was he not made head at last? How could he have overthrown the greatest power at that time with his own effort? Humanly speaking, his winning and being the head was impossible. Promotion does not come by cheating because at the said time, he had no Army. He becoming the king of Isreal had nothing to do with him killing Goliath. (He was chosen in first Samuel 13 and he killed Goliath in chapter 17).
Wilma Rudolph said, “winning is sure great, but if you are willing to do something great in life, the secret is learning how to lose. Nobody goes undefeated all the time. If you can pick up after a crushing defeat and go on to win again, you are going to be a champion someday.”
So, winning and becoming the head is not by anxiety or panic actions. It is by God favouring you in your due season. Remember Gehazi wanted to win and grow rich by all means, but he became rich with leprosy, if God be God, then in your season, your making by him will show forth for the world to behold. Wait on the lord.

Prayer points

Even in the land of famine, Isaac prospered. Tell God that things are hard but you want his power for success in all that you do.

Pray for help from above not to be envious of the prosperity of the wicked.

In the seasons of Time

I am not going to start this sermon with what you already know. It is no longer news that to everything in life, there is a season and a time. This sermon will dwell on understanding the season in your life so that you can make a better decision and manage your life to its greatest potential.
It is very important to note that in a man’s life, there is a season, a season to plant and a season to harvest. You cannot be in a seed planting season and expect to be harvesting. In the same vein, if you are an employee and your employer is harvesting greatly, do not compare yourself with him, he had already had his seed planting season and is now harvesting, you ought to know that you should be planting at that time so you can have your harvest time.
That Mr. A is harvesting does not mean that Mr. B should be harvesting, even if they both work for the same employer.
Elisha made it clear when he was offered a gift after healing Naaman (2 kings 5:20-27), he refused it, but Gehazi went behind and took the gift. Elisha became furious and made it clear to him that it was not the time for harvest, and this covetousness led to the leprosy of Gehazi. This is because he thwarted prematurely the plans of God. It is a very important lesson not to sabotage God’s cycles by intruding in a season prematurely.

The challenges you pass through time which can be referred to as a cold season can also be your seed planting season, or a night season, but the day season will come, a season where you would reap bountifully.
In this cold season, people may mock and insult you as you wait upon the lord. In this your winter season, all sorts of negative derision could be hauled at you, but do not mind, stay focused and understand that it is your seed planting season. Do not cut down your tree prematurely, let your faith play a vital role and I tell you it would definitely end in praise. Hold on and believe that your harvest time would come.

A simple philosophy to strengthen you in this period of darkness is to know that as long as the seasons remain, night and day, prosperity and hardship, winter and summer, there is absolutely nothing you can do about it, you can’t stop it, but can only adapt to it. You can pray all you can with all the amount of faith in you and still borrow the faith of your brethren, you still won’t be able to change a season. You cannot travel to Europe or northern America in December and expect it to be summer. It would definitely be winter.
You can only adapt to it. In the same way, when you are passing through the storms of life, in your dark season, always remember that this is the best time to plant seeds so that in due season, you can reap bountifully. This does not only apply to prosperity matters. Even in our relationships, when it seems that we are at our lowest ebb and about to lose our loved ones. This is the right time to invest in the relationship and ourselves, to think back and know exactly what went wrong and try to remedy it. This would be the time to invest tremendous amount of energy, time and attention to make things work and in due season, you shall reap happiness. Remember, whatever thou sowest, that would thou reap. You don’t expect to sow rice and reap up legumes.
What do you do in your seed planting time? This is the period you stay focused on God’s, investing your energy to right thoughts and working round the clock to pursue your dreams of having a better future when you harvest.  This is the time to think deep to generate great ideas and connections that would propel you to that which you desire. This is the time you analyse your situation and put strategies in place to change your story.
Remember, that God will not abandon you in your night season, Yes, he knows about your situation and wants to use it for his glory, and if you are a true a true believer, your story would definitely end in praise.
May the good lord help us to understand the seasons of our time and make better use of it in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Faith is an Action Word

The oxford English dictionary defines faith as a noun which means a complete trust or confidence in someone or something. A second definition renders it as a strong belief in the doctrines of a religion based on spiritual conviction rather than proof.

Trying not to disproof the above definitions, I see faith as a verb, an action word which needs to be carried out or experienced, for the bible made it clear that faith without works is dead. Therefore, faith goes beyond a spiritual conviction which must play out in our everyday lives. If a Christian does not live and work in faith, then he cannot have a live experience of the things of God. God expects us to pursue our goals in live with faith knowing that we will win so long as we trust in him.

To buttress this point, I will use the story of pastor Suleiman of Omega mimistries, (a moslem who converted to Christianity in Kaduna, you can browse that for more information), who had a fight with the central government when some moslems were killing Christians in the northern part of Nigeria. Because he hit hard on the government’s islamization agenda, the government decided to castigate him and discredit his reputation.

The said girl, Stephanie Otobor, a prostitute living in Kaduna, was paid to be the hangman. She held a press conference alleging that Pastor Suleiman has been having sex with him and has refused to meet up with his manly responsibilities of taking care of him and a whole lot of other accusations.
Pastor Suleiman, not deterred by her accusations, came to church and the first thing he did was to kneel down before his congregation and said, “in seven days, those accusing me shall also come out to say I have nothing to do with this. The will confess else I cease to be a pastor.”

Not long from when he said that, exactly five days later, the lady involved with her mother held another press conference and told the world that she was paid to do it by the government of kaduna in alliance with a famous lawyer. The mother asked for forgiveness from pastor Suleiman and addressed the daughter as a desperate woman who can do anything for money.

To me, that is faith in action. We must always endeavour to work out our faith gradually to the point where when we kneel to pray, the devil gets afraid and when we declare anything, it comes to pass.

Apostle Paul said that we must always fight the fight of faith, always proving ourselves before the father so that we can be worthy to be called the sons of God. When we have proven ourselves before our heavenly father, then we can be rest assured that we can have all that we need depending on the level of faith that we have attained.

Challenges would always come, but when they do, just know that we have powers within us to always win. We should always remember that whatever the temptation, we have an inherent capacity to fight it off and win over the devil anytime and even if you fail at first, you can always stand again and fight for you shall surely win in the end.

Do not let the fight swallow you, swallow the fight and move on to a higher level of life that you have been called.
